About project:
M2M Wireless Automation free eLearning and information web site

Overview

European Commission Leonardo da Vinci Community action programme on vocational training finances a development and educational project, which creates and maintains a free eLearning web site for wireless technologies in the field of M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication. Klinkmann is the main promoter and leader in this project, for which several educational organizations and companies are supplying the contents. The project was started December 1st 2001 and free eLlearning web site will be opened in June 2003.

Background

By using mobile networks (GSM/GPRS) various devices and machines can be controlled and reported in buildings and industries with wireless M2M systems. Devices like Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), CPU devices and building automation systems as well as data networks will be interfaced together with wireless technologies. Wireless automation (telematics) had globally 1 million subscribers (devices communicating in GSM networks) in 2001 and the number is forecasted to grow to 20 million by 2005.

Targets

Wireless automation technologies are becoming an important competitive factor in global scale as new technologies are restructuring working and business models in many organizations. The eLearning project supplies free information of wireless communication and of its implementation in automation - application areas are various: metering, remote controls, maintenance and service, wireless data transfer, information systems etc. The information of the eLearning project is targeted to all persons updating their skills in wireless communication. The project is widely promoted in various international medias as well as to Klinkmann's existing wireless contacts, consisting of over 12.000 persons interested in M2M technologies in various countries.

Offering

During the eLearning project various informative contents will be published in the web site; educational material, product information, reference examples of real projects, interactive tests to follow one's skills etc. In the beginning the eLearning site starts to work under Klinkmann web site, and later in 2002 the eLearning project will get a dedicated web server and own web address. The extent of the project is 6-10 working years.

Join the project - everything is free!

The information and eLearning services of the site are free for any person registered as an user of the service. You will get regularly free information of M2M technologies and markets without any obligations; just register your contact information in our web site and you will start to receive emails once a month of the latest web M2M contents. Register here.

You can deliver also your own contents

Companies and organizations like device and network manufacturers, operators and educational organizations are welcome to supply contents of their products and services to the eLearning web site, ask more information by email support@m2m-elearning.lv.
